Today we read the first part of Jesus' famous parable of the talents.
The parable of the talents is such a famous story that anyone who has been to church for a while will know it.

One day a master went away and entrusted his possessions to his servants, each with five talents of gold, two talents, and one talent.
The two workers, who had received five and two talents, did their utmost to be faithful, and each left twice as much as they had received.

To name a few examples, the most representative example of the Old Testament is the story of Noah in Genesis 6. As we know well, Noah was a righteous man who walked with God by faith in a world where sin prevailed at that time. And Noah led the family by faith.
But all the rest of the world were people of sin and disobeyed and resisted God. In the end, only Noah's eight families survived through the ark, and everyone else was destroyed by the deluge.

Everyone, what is the lesson of this story? Yes, of course, like Noah, we must live as people of God who are set apart in this sinful world, as people of faith.

Another representative contrast of the Old Testament is Jeremiah 17:5-8.
It says that he who has his heart turned away from God and believes in men and puts his trust in man's strength will be cursed and become like a bush in the desert.
And on the contrary, he says that those who have their hearts united with God and believe and depend on God will be blessed.
And he says it will be green and fruitful and fruitful like a tree planted by the water.
"Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD.
"For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD.
"For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit."(Jeremiah17:5-8)

And if you look at the New Testament, you will see that our Jesus most representatively contrasts heaven and hell with the story of the rich man and the beggar Lazarus in Luke 16. Also, in Matthew 13, he says this
¡°They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear¡± (Matthew 13:42-43)
Sinners will weep and grind their teeth in the furnace, and the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of God

Everyone, through these words, God is clearly telling us that there are two ways of life. One is the way of the righteous who have been born again. The way of faith, the way of life, and the way of truth.
And the other is the way of unregenerate sinners, the way of unbelief and the way of death.

The first thing we need to know is that everything belongs to God
Let's read verse 14
¡°"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them¡± (Matthew 25:14).

A certain person in this verse is the master of the servants and this master symbolizes God the Creator.

But everyone, based on the creation belief in Genesis, all creation, including us humans, is God's creation. Therefore, everything is actually God's.
The important thing is that a creature can never be the master of creation. The master of everything in this world is only the one who created it.

When God, the owner of life, takes our life, our life is over.
Look at Luke 12:20
¡°But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?¡± (Luke 12:20).
There is a day when the One who gave our lives will require our souls back, and that is not the end. We must stand before that God.

At that time, we must all settle accounts before God and be judged. Therefore, we must prepare well for that time.

There are times when we
Although we have been attending church for a long time and living a religious life, we may not know God well.
There are times when we do not know the deep love and will of the Holy Trinity for us. There are times when we only know a little superficially or do not know well, misunderstand, and often complain rather than thank.
This is the crucial problem found in the one-talented servant.

Therefore, from now on, we need to know God more deeply, know Him, and know Him properly.
The Reformer Calvin said that the most important knowledge is the knowledge of God and the knowledge of man, and the best knowledge among them is the knowledge of God.
All problems in life cannot be solved without knowing God
Therefore, we need to know God well. In order to know God well, we must first read the Word and secondly, we must have fellowship with God through prayer.

That is why Hosea 6:3 says, ¡°"So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD ¡± (Hosea 6:3).
Also, in verse 6 it says, ¡°For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.¡± (Hosea 6:6).

When we get to know God deeply and know the Bible deeply, we actually get to know ourselves deeply and know the purpose and meaning of our existence. And you will come to know the responsibility and mission God has given you.
And when we faithfully carry out our responsibilities and missions with joy and gratitude, we will achieve our purpose in life.
And the result of such loyalty is to please God and glorify God, and at the same time, in the end, everything will return to my own great joy and glory. This is the principle of faith taught by the parable of the talents.

Therefore, dear friends, I pray that this year will be a year where we all strive to get to know God more deeply.
I hope that you will live a precious life that fulfills our mission and purpose in life as we get to know the Bible more deeply and to know more about the Holy Trinity.

Friends, we are God's servants and at the same time we are God's children.
This means that all of them are, in fact, heirs of the kingdom of God and the second generation of the inheritance of the kingdom of God.
So, don't be envious of the second generation of rich entrepreneurs from the drama
We are the people who have been called for the greatest work and project of mankind: ¡°Salvation of souls, making and raising disciples of the Lord, and the expansion of the kingdom of God.¡±
Therefore, I hope that you will live a faithful life with no regrets while giving thanks for the talents God has entrusted to you.
Then God will be glorified, and in the end all blessings will come back to us.
